About Circulio

Built from inside the rental industry

Circulio is a multi-channel rental eCommerce and rental management platform for technical equipment hire businesses. It was not built as a generic booking tool adapted for rental. It was designed specifically for businesses that rent high-value serialised equipment, need to serve multiple customer types, and want to grow without duplicating infrastructure.

Where we started

Built For Camera Rental
Expanded From There

Starting in one of the most operationally complex rental sectors meant we built the right foundations. A powerful availability engine, serialised asset control, multi-channel architecture, eCommerce webstores built in, and manufacturer loan programme infrastructure were requirements from day one, not features added later.

Circulio began as the operational and eCommerce infrastructure for Hireacamera, one of the UK's leading camera and lens rental companies. The business needed to do things that no available rental software supported: run multiple separately branded websites from one asset pool, manage manufacturer loan programmes alongside commercial rental, and serve trade and consumer customers through entirely different channel experiences.

Rather than stitching together multiple systems with integrations and workarounds, the platform was built from scratch to handle all of it natively. Camera and lens rental, with its high-value serialised assets, rapid product cycles and manufacturer collaboration, is one of the most demanding rental environments. Getting it right there established the architectural principles that now underpin everything Circulio does.

The platform has since expanded to serve AV, broadcast, pro audio, lighting, laser and measuring, education, press fleet and MedTech brands and rental businesses. The architecture has not changed: cloud-based SaaS, multi-channel, eCommerce-first, operationally connected.

Circulio's customers include rental businesses, manufacturers and 3PL providers running loan programmes, and specialist operators across the UK, France and Canada. Every deployment solves real operational complexity. Every deployment delivers growth.

Real Businesses
Real Complexity

Circulio is not a platform waiting for customers to test its claims. The deployments listed here are live, operational and publicly verifiable. The 12-channel deployment that includes Hireacamera alone represents a scale of multi-channel rental infrastructure and capability that few platforms anywhere can demonstrate.

What we are and are not

A Platform
With Purpose

Circulio is designed for technical equipment hire businesses and consumer brands where assets are high-value, serialised and operationally demanding. It is not a generalist booking platform, and it is not plant hire or construction equipment software. It is built for the rental sectors and business models it serves. In these, it excels.

Circulio is an independent SaaS platform. It is not part of a software holding group, not a white-labelled third-party product, and not built by a team without first-hand rental operating experience. Development priorities are set by what the rental and loan businesses on the platform actually need.

What Circulio is built for
  • Technical equipment rental businesses with high-value serialised assets
  • Multi-channel operators running separate branded websites from one platform
  • Manufacturers managing press fleets, evaluation loans and Try Before You Buy programmes
  • Businesses that need real-time customer-facing eCommerce, not just back-office management
  • Rental operators who want to grow without duplicating operational infrastructure
What Circulio is not
  • A plant hire or construction equipment platform
  • A generic booking widget for simple hire
  • An acquired product maintained within a holding company portfolio

There are no partial credits. Every component must be satisfied.

The ten components we are committed to

  • Fairer hours and contracts — fair approach to zero and minimal hours contracts, with proper consideration given to contracts with guaranteed hours
  • Employee wellbeing — clear policies supporting physical and mental health, and fair treatment for legitimate sickness
  • Employee representation — a voice for employees that reaches senior management and the boardroom
  • Diversity and inclusion — active monitoring and ongoing commitment to an inclusive workplace
  • Environmental responsibility — a published environmental policy committing to reduce our impact and improve our performance continuously

  • Prompt payment — suppliers paid on time and within 30 days, in line with the government's Prompt Payment Code

The Good Business Charter was founded by Julian Richer and developed with the CBI, TUC and Federation of Small Businesses. Accreditation is reassessed annually. Businesses that do not maintain all ten commitments lose accreditation.
